Love Lenovo Laptops

This laptop with an OLED screen and 7840U processor is nearly perfect. The OLED screen is high resolution and very colorful. The anti-glare coating reduces the expected contrasty look of a normal OLED, but the anti-glare is a good tradeoff. Colors are deep and saturated. I wish it had a higher refresh rate than 60hz, but this is better for battery life. The 7840U processor is great and you can do most normal tasks quickly and efficiently without the fan turning on. Heat is generally minimal. The keyboard and trackpad are classic Thinkpad with no complaints. Battery life is good with the larger available battery. Build quality is solid in the grey color, but has a little bit of flex in the lid. Hinges are great and super strong. Wifi and bluetooth reception appears to be solid.

My "issues" or wanted improvements are as follows. The Windows Hello feature doesn't work if the camera shutter is closed. Windows Hello uses IR (not image) so the separate IR sensor should be left unblocked, but it's blocked by the shutter. Therefore, in order to use Windows Hello, the entire camera assembly is exposed even when the camera is not needed. The camera is ok, not great. The speakers are...speakers. The RAM has to be soldered on. This is good and bad as the LPDDR uses less power, but it is not upgradable. I went with 32GB to ease my concerns, but it is an expensive upgrade. Upgradable RAM with DIMM slots would be much preferred. Two USB 4 ports would be good over the single USB 4 and single USB 3.2 port. The fan doesn't turn on until it gets warm which is great, but when it does turn on it can have a high pitched whine depending on if the fan grille is covered (no whine) or not (whiny noise). Getting a laptop with the 7840U processor is difficult from any brand and you have to pay a premium for it. Make sure to hunt for deals.

Almost perfect!

Lenovo T14 strikes a notable balance in the world of lightweight laptops. Its design is commendably thin, around 0.70 inches, and it's quite portable, weighing in at 2.6 lbs. This makes it a solid choice for those who prioritize mobility.

In terms of performance, it handles everyday tasks efficiently, though it's not cut out for intensive gaming or heavy-duty video editing. The processor and RAM are sufficient for standard use, but power users might find them lacking.

One of the highlights of the T14 from my point of view is its quiet operation. The cooling system does an excellent job keeping noise to a minimum, a boon for those working in quiet environments. However, under heavy load (or Chrome multipages), there can be a slight increase in fan noise.

The keyboard offers a decent typing experience, but it might not appeal to everyone, particularly those accustomed to more tactile feedback. The display, while bright and clear, doesn't stand out in a market where high-resolution screens are becoming the norm.

Overall, the Lenovo T14 earns a solid 4 out of 5 from me. It's well-suited for everyday tasks and is incredibly portable, but it's not without its limitations, particularly in terms of high-end performance and display quality.

Very good laptop with some caveats

This i7 CPU is running very fast when I open most of my software. I am also very happy with its sharp display and thin screen frame.

An Excellent ThinkPad with modern sleek outlook

Excellent speed with my preferred AMD chip , great clear screen, facial recognition easy to use, and comfortable weight for carrying. Connects well with a ThinkPad Dock and an additional monitor. Totally pleased with purchase as I was with a prior ThinkPad.
