The X1 has been lovely so far. It has basically done the business applications that I have asked it to do with ease and without issue. The battery life has been amazing so far. The look is also sleek and professional, which is much of what I like to have it for in court (I'm an attorney). Despite its size, the selection of ports is also great, with USB-C, -A and HDMI. It's everything I was looking for there.

I love music and movies and sound on this little thing has been great. A wonderful suprise from such a tiny little package.

This is my first ThinkPad. The red dot mouse is a nice novelty, but honestly, my chubby fingers could do without it in the middle of the keyboard. Unfortunately, while I had read about the 'legendary' keyboard that ThinkPads are known for, I had not really anticipated that the function key would be located where the Control is on basically all other keyboards. I love using keyboard shortcuts where possible, and getting used to that weird control key has been a challenge and would be a 'do-over' consideration here as well for me. Again, the main purpose of this thing is for work and drafting documents. If I can figure out a hack to reprogram the Fn and Control on the left hand, I might go for it.

I also was looking for something that was rugged that I can take with me everywhere and getting as much power for the weight as possible. This seems to be doing the trick on those all of those fronts. While I wish I had gotten a slightly larger screen, I recognize I cannot have both (lightweight and large screen). I think I would definitely not go any smaller than this size in the future and might consider slightly larger next time around. My last laptop (which was a wonderful workhorse for me and has only been retired because the screen does not always power up reliably anymore) was a Yoga 900-13ISK bought in 2015-16. That was listed as a 13.3 inch display and almost seems like a larger screen size compared to the X1 here (the laptop itself was larger in dimensions).

With all of that said, it is still relatively early in my use of X1. Looking forward to a few upcoming trips and seeing this baby shine with airplane travel (my other big interest in getting the X1). All in all, very happy.

Lots to love. Still room for improvement as well.

About six months ago I got a Dell Inspiron Laptop when my previous laptop (a MacBook Air I'd had for over 5 years) stopped working. However, less than six months later that Dell laptop stopped working as well (despite extensive repair work done under warranty). So I began a search for a new laptop and found the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 11.

I am a graduate student (and will soon enter a PhD program) so I needed something durable, reliable, with a lot of storage for research and teaching purposes, and long battery life. As well as preferably something light so carrying it around campus would not be a chore. This laptop is everything I hoped for and more.

I have only had it for about a month, but so far it is working like a charm.

The laptop itself feels very durable and well made while still being very light. the keyboard feels great when I type and there are a few different brightness levels for the backlit keyboard, which is convenient.

The screen is bright and has very little glare (I can finally watch Netflix laying down in bed without seeing my reflection in the screen haha). I opted for the touch screen, since it is useful for teaching and making notes on various documents for research, and so far it has worked beautifully---I don't have to press down hard on the screen nor is there any lagging.

So far the battery life is excellent. I use my computer mostly for school related purposes, though I am studying the Humanities, so I don't really use any crazy programs or software. I mostly use it for reading documents online, online research, grading/teaching related tasks, taking notes on Word, and writing essays. But I also use it for personal use for browsing the web, streaming videos, and playing basic video games. The longest battery life so far has been about 14 hours, but I usually average around 8 to 9 hours (more than enough for a day of classes).

It also charges crazy fast. It can go from less than 10% to fully charged in about an hour (this is for the charger included in the box, so a 3rd party charger might be a different story).

However, I do have a few cons. One is that it smudges easily/fingerprints and grime show up very easily. This is not a super huge deal as wiping it down with a damp cloth/laptop cleaner takes care of it. Another is that I've heard the webcam is not the best quality given the price of the laptop. It's not as awful as some people claim in my opinion; but I also don't use it for Zoom/web meetings that often.

However, I think the biggest con is the price. So far, I think the price is well worth it. I was able to get mine (1TB of storage, touchscreen) for about 1400$ while it was on sale (not including warranty, Microsoft office subscription, etc). Though I think the non-sale price is well over 2000$. Personally, I think it is well worth it but I know that not everyone would be willing to shell out that kind of cash for a laptop.

Excellent Laptop!

I have used this new laptop for half a month. I am satisfied with its tech specs, especially the processer, operating system, graphic card, memory, and storage. It functions smoothly with multitasks. I hope to use it at least 4-5 years. The battery life is good so far. Not sure if it will degrade substantially after using 1 or 2 years. Other series of Lenovo laptops are bad with their battery life. After I made some recommended Windows updates after using it around 3 days, ironically, this laptop no longer worked with my old 4k E-edge monitor. After having a phone call with a tech specialist, the conclusion is to buy a new monitor that is compatible with my updated laptop. If without this incident, I would be much happier with this purchase. Lenovo customer service is very supportive though.

Good so far

Great, highly portable laptop! Its battery life is better than I thought. Far better than the Dell XPS that it replaced. But note that to get to the highest, you need to pick the non-touch, non-highest-resolution display option. Honestly, the highest rez displays are hard to read on this smaller screen and a larger screen would defeat the portability aspect.

Fast and portable

As a carpenter I have an appreciation for high quality tools that help me create. The X1 Carbon is definitely that kind of tool. It's the perfect size. I find it easy to carry out into the field where it lives in my work truck till I'm back at the office each evening. So thin. So light. I'm glad I upgraded to the touch screen, as I find it improving my work flow a little each week. The screen contains the only area for improvement- It's just barely bright enough while outside, though beautiful and perfect inside. I'm not sure that many other laptops could offer a much brighter screen. I find the keyboard wonderful. So is the trackpad. Battery life is great for my light needs. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. I'm sure it will serve my small contracting business for several years.

A tool amongst toys

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 is a great laptop. It works very smoothly. The keyboard is great and the closest thing to a normal desktop keyboard. Very good battery life as well. The laptop is very light and portable.

Love this laptop

Restarts itself when I step away for more than an hour, which would be find other than it closes documents I'm working on. Otherwise, love it. Very light, long-lasting battery, good speed.

Good laptop

Top-tier business computer that is fast, light, and reliable. Long battery life is a huge plus. Opted for non-touch screen and still really enjoy it.

Great choice!

This is my 4th Lenovo. It is very fast for the programs I run (MS Office and Adobe so far). Battery life has been great, too.

Great lightweight laptop with long battery life. The laptop does seem a little slow when compared to my X1 Extreme.

Great lightweight laptop

I was first worried regarding the smaller size of this laptop compared to my previous Lenovo P70 17" workhorse (with Xeon X3 processor) which I kept for a mind buggling 9 years. The X1 carbon ridiculous small weigth and OLED display quickly put me at ease. The display is incredibly rich. It is almost tempting to physically juggle with the X1 carbon as its weigth is so small. The Thundeberlot 4 connections allow for blazing fast read/write speeds without compromising data lost. Oh! I lamost forgot to mention the Dolby ATMOS 5 speakers delivering immersive sound - I've never experiecent such a high sound quality coming out of such small, slim and light laptop.

It is THE portable laptop you need!

X1 Carbon Intel Vpro 13th gen i7-1370P

I had a 16” Lenovo Thinkpad and after 4 months it would not power up. I loved it except that it was a little heavy, and the battery only lasted 4 hours.

I bought the Lenovo Carbon X1 14” and it is so light. It feels very solid and is very responsive. It is small enough for me to take it to work, travel and conferences. The battery lasts longer so I don't have to carry my charging cords.

Setting up the computer and warranty was easy to do and user-friendly. The screen is sharp with good color range.

The only thing is some of my designer apps require a larger screen - I would like to see this computer offered as a 16-inch.

It does get VERY hot when rapid charging. So much so that I can't continue using it. But it does charge quickly.

Great computer at a good price point. I am looking forward to using it for years.

Beautiful Light Business Companion

I got 32 RAM and this baby hums. It’s fast, sleek, and compact. Great resolution, bright colors. It may be small but it’s heavy enough to be sturdy but not HEAVY. Great purchase. I plan to use this one for a while.

Best laptop I’ve ever had

Great laptop!

The X1 Carbon is everything I expected. Performance is great, chassis is solid but lightweight, keyboard second to none. The carbon fiber outer cover looks fantastic. OLED display super clear and bright.

Computer arrived on time. It was a breeze to setup. Also synching it with an iPhone was seamless. Screen is crystal clear. Plenty of speed for school & work use.

No issues

Very satisfied with this laptop. Wish I had done it sooner.

The feature that sets it apart from the others, is the way it runs cooler. No grabbing a hot metal computer. The material and the cooling system are 5-star.

It's fast - from startup to logging in to accessing web via wifi. And I very much enjoy how clear and sharp the display is. These old eyes can use all the help they can get!!
